If You Go (Bonus Track)

from The Way It's Always Been by Paul Ventura

/

about

This is a very old song which I originally wrote and recorded around 2008. The recording at the time was pretty rough but I always liked the song. I'd been meaning to re-record it for years and finally got around to it as the final (bonus) track on this record. It also might contain the lowest note I've ever sung on tape so... ya know... fun fact.

lyrics

and if you go
i'll leave you all alone
i'll teach myself to not look for you anymore
someday things they will settle down
if you don't
it's on and on again
i'll complicate your life if you would let me in
i need you to not stand for it when

(chorus)
summer takes you
i need you to
find your way back to me through this storm
tell me that you'll
come back down soon
i know you're not sure
anymore

and if you go
just leave me all alone
convince myself to not rely on you so much
when i can't explain myself why you're gone
and everything will drip
the lines i tried and failed to catch more
than your feet
i want you here not sympathy

(chorus)
summer takes you
i need you to
find your way back to me through this storm
tell me that you'll
come back down soon
i know you're not sure
anymore
